Our History

PSI is a start-up.

50 Years of extensive research and development efforts guiding us.

Currently on the International Space Station purifying human urine waste.

Passed rigors of testing at Cedars-Sinai Hospital and Sandia National Labs.

Stamp of Approval
“Radiological testing showed the fresh output water had complete removal of all the 32P isotope” and “Biological testing showed complete removal of all E-Coli bacteria seeded in the input source.”
Stamp of Approval
“We hope that this technology will be commercialized since it seems to combine the best in efficiency as well as portability and low cost. It is noteworthy to mention that whereas other small portable units can filter tainted freshwater, the PSI prototype can desalinate brackish water and saltwater.”
Father and Son's Journey
Jack Bitterly started this journey and his initial vision is now a reality on the current NASA International Space Lab.  A licensed version by NASA is used to purify human urine waste.

Steve Bitterly joined his dad and is now the CEO of Pure Spun Innovations (PSI) and continues the vision to make pure drinking water accessible to the world.

Prototype Journey
10X: Our latest patented system develops an effective heat transfer that is 10 times greater than competing distillation systems, helping reduce cost of the heat exchanger and reducing the size of the processer for the same output capacity.
