Frequently Asked Questions
What is PSI (Pure Spun Innovations) all about?

PSI was established to commercialize a new cost-effective breakthrough in water purification based on years of past engineering and development work. PSI is a portable water distillation and desalination system.

Is PSI a start-up?

Yes, PSI is a start-up and the founding roots of the PSI technology are now currently utilized by NASA to process astronaut wastewater aboard the International Space Station.

What are some key competitive differentiators?

2 in 1: PSI purifiers distill and purify contaminated water sources and desalinate seawater within the same unit

Boiling point: PSI patented purifiers operate at room temperature

Portability: PSI purifiers are easy to carry and small in size

Power: PSI purifiers are patented to run on low-power and low-energy

Solar: PSI purifiers are designed to run on solar if/when plug-power is unavailable

Self-cleaning: PSI purifiers have built in self-cleaning features

No filter: PSI purifiers contain no filter

99.9% purity: As tested and verified by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Sandia National Labs, PSI purifiers remove nearly all impurities and dissolved solids, bacteria and other microbes and radiological contaminants

Are PSI products scalable?

Yes, they are. The PS100 line of purifiers are scalable and ideal for large industrial size applications using the patented concentric multi-shell boiler-condenser technology along with the 10X heat transfer improvements.

How do PSI products scale?

Using the patented concentric multi-shell boiler-condenser technology along with the 10X heat transfer improvements. Each additional boiler-shell magnifies the purifiers processing capacity output by a greater factor than simply the sum of the single-shell boiler output capacity.

For instance: Having two concentric boiler-shells yields even more than 2X greater output capacity than a single shell.  Having three concentric boiler-shells yields even more than 3X greater output capacity than a single shell, etc.

What is the TRL (Technical Readiness Level) of PS100 Purifiers?

Based on NASA’s 9-level scale adopted in the 1990’s, PS100 purifiers are between a TRL 5 and 7 level including the new breakthrough improvements.

What is the TRL of a standard rotary boiler-condenser system coupled with vapor compression distillation?
Based on space-qualified hardware already being utilized on the ISS (International Space Station), it is at TRL 9 level.  However, NASA standards are much stricter than commercial standards
